In black, the case is aircraft aluminum and pretty light. The case is further water resistant to 200 meters and has a sapphire crystal. On the bottom of the case is a pretty sweet looking snowflake icon in relief. Construction seemed solid and the overall design was slick and inspired.
These two watches are interesting limited edition Royal Oak watches done in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Royal Oak collection. While not the only limited edition models for 2012, these are the two skeletonized versions and each come in platinum cases - a bit ironic to celebrate the famous high-end steel watch.
The hands are strong and actually skeletonized hands that I will stand behind. Integration of the Swiss ETA Valjoux 7751 movement is extremely clever. I always like to mention how this is a very difficult movement to design around due to the emptiness on the right side of the dial. What Ferragamo did was create a visual heaviness at the bottom of the dial with the silvered area around the moon phase indicator. What this does is pretty much make you forget that the left side of the dial is more cluttered and the right. Nice work right?
